Until not too long ago, I had what I thought was a pretty good diet, and I was pretty proud of myself for it.
But my doctor had a different opinion, and some recent test results supported his theory.
High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and borderline blood glucose levels all meant that I was on the wrong track, and a closer look at my daily eating habits proved to be the culprit.
He prescribed medication to bring my numbers into acceptable ranges, but I’ve never been happy with taking prescriptions, so I set out on a quest to unravel the mysteries of nutrition and wellness.
I tried “diet” after “diet”, without much success, not realizing that a “diet” was the last thing I needed.
What was required was a full-blown lifestyle change.
We just got through saying that a diet was not the right thing for me, and yet I’m mentioning Paleo. Well, I have to tell you, the paleo movement is much more than a diet, it’s a way of life.
Backed by scientific studies, the movement seems real to me. I guess that’s something you have to decide for yourself, but I can tell you that I honestly feel better when I eat paleo style. The results are noticeable.
It reduces inflammation, and that was one of my main goals, because I believe chronic inflammation is the driver behind many of our modern diseases.
The hardest part about getting started with any new “diet” is coming up with new recipe ideas that are both delicious and easy to prepare.
